Afriq’Units project partners met at the University of Mzumbe (Uganda) on May 2009.

The EFQM excellence Model is the best well known and used European management model both by private and public entreprises, 12 of the 15 leading European Bussiness entrprises are using it as a day to day to management model, it also used by the European Commision and more and more universities are using it worlwide what to improve their key performance results. In the event of the workshop the trainees acquired sufficient knowledge to perform a self-assessment analysis using the EFQM model. Theoretical learning was provided of the 9 criteria and on the 12 fundamental concepts underpinning the model.

East African institutions were responsible for proving modules according to current perceived needs and chairing the meetings. They will also conducted an analysis to be presented at the end of the workshop on how to adapt the EFQM questionnaire to the context of East African Higher Education Institutions. The EFQM questionnaire was adapted to the reality of EAUs and will be used a benchmark.
