The trainings have been designed according to the needs identified during the preparation of the project proposal and cover the full spectrum necessary for the implementation of quality assurance culture within the partner Universities including the practical observation session and participation of the managerial staff in daily activities of a Quality Unit within the European Partner’s institution.
In order to ensure efficient implementation of the assessment practice within the Universities, the physical capacity of the internal quality units will be strengthened through the development and implementation of integral data and information systems.
Until the end of the first project year, the three Quality Units should be fully operational and strategically embedded within the institutional frameworks of the EAUs which will be supported by the development of strategic plans for the institutional implementation of quality culture and structures within the Universities. The second project year will be devoted to pilot assessments activities, in which the skills gained during the trainings, will be practically tested and evaluated.
During the second project year particular attention will be paid to internal and external dissemination and networking activities, where especially the great dissemination potential of the IUCEA and AAU involved in the project will be used. In order to address the need for benchmarking and sharing of best practices in the experience gained within the project will be analysed and summarised in a publication of a Guide for the Promotion of Quality Culture within East African Universities and distributed in the region and to the members of the involved associations.
